Seems strange, I just figured this out. I don't know how many times I've been to the "manage your store" page, but there it was DOMAIN REGISTRATION . When you click the link only a brief desription is given, but I'll recap it for you.
Why register a domain name?
Registering a custom domain name for your eBay Store can greatly enhance your business. You can promote your Store and build a professional brand with an Internet address that's easy for buyers to find and remember. When users enter your domain name in their browser (or click on a link or bookmark), they will be forwarded to your Store's URL on eBay.
For example, suppose that you specialize in clocks, and your eBay Store's name is "Fancy Clocks." If it's available, you might register the domain name www.fancyclocks.com. Whenever users request this address in their browser, they'll be forwarded to http://stores.ebay.com/fancyclocks.
Note: Your custom domain name does not need to be identical to your Store name.
How to register a domain name
eBay works with third-party domain registrars for this feature. To register a domain name, read about each provider and choose one from the list. You'll go to the registrar's Web site where you will be asked to create an account. Registrars normally charge a yearly fee to register a domain name. You will be billed directly by the registrar, and any future management of the custom domain name will be done through the registrar's site. eBay does not charge fees for this feature.
Note: Please make sure that your domain name does not contain eBay's trademarks "eBay," "Half," and "PayPal" (or variations of those marks).
When you set up your custom domain name on the registrar's site, eBay will prepopulate your Store's URL as the destination that your domain should forward to. We will also include a code at the end of that URL (?refid=store) to track when a user enters your Store from outside of eBay. If the user purchases an item, you can earn a Store Referral Credit. For more information, see the eBay Stores section in the eBay Help Center.
Actually that's not a recap, that's straight from eBay and it explains things pretty well. I always want to tell people to buy magazines from me, or print my url on a business card but when they ask what the url is, I used to have to say www.stores.ebay.com/lowpricedmags. So I registered www.ShopLowPricedMags.com . Try it, it refers you to my eBay store. Now with a regular domain name I can run a PPC campaign and people will remember the name. It could be anything. I could have registered www.JaySellsMags.com and had it forward. I register my domains with http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-1940573-10395051 . They're cheap, usually $6-$8 or less so and easy to use and offer low cost hosting and other services. They refer the traffic from www.ShopLowPricedMags.com to my store for free! :o)
Now I just touched on it briefly, but don't forget to add that "?refid=store" to the end of your url, to get your store referral credit. What's that you say? eBay pays you 75% of your closing value fees back for referring the business to them. Can't beat that right? Heck No! Make sure you add it on the end of your url and put it in every email you send out to every customer, friends, family....people will click it, people will buy, you get paid back.
